Brooklyn Tackling Rat Problem in Borough

BROOKLYN — Borough President Eric Adams showcased the outcomes of a month-long trial at Borough Hall, featuring the Ekomille rat trap.

The Ekomille trap appears as a simple box, attracting rats with nuts and seeds. Once inside, rats are transferred to another section filled with an alcohol/water solution, eventually leading to their demise. The company asserts there is no odor, and the box is cleaned monthly.

During the experiment, Borough Hall captured 107 rats.

PIX11 News accompanied Councilman Robert Cornegy Jr. down Fulton Street in Bed Stuy to discuss the rat issue affecting the business district.

Adams plans to expand the pilot program to include a NYCHA complex and a business area in Bed Stuy, aiming to encourage widespread use of these boxes across the city.
